Ultimate Bearing Capacity of Steel Frame Structure Locally Acted by Fire

Abstract


The study shows that a steel frame structure, when it was directly acted by a local fire, both the bearing capacity of beams and columns were much lower than those during heating-up according to ISO-834 after acted by a practical fire for 5~7minutes. Both the beams and columns fully lost their bearing capacity within 66.3minutes. Moreover, when it was acted by fire for only about 5 minutes, the ultimate bending moment of beam lost near 80% when heating-up at the middle joint.
